“The plant organism derives its impulse from the Seed-Germ, and in its growth develops sub-centers of further growth. The seed-germ may thus be considered also as a container of energy, forming of its own will sub-centers of energy in the course of its functioning development toward the finality of its characteristic form - the expression of its identity.”
Giethoorn in Netherlands has no roads or any modern transportation at all, only canals. Well, and 176 bridges too. Tourists have to leave their cars outside of the village and travel here by foot or boat by. So you can probably imagine how peaceful it is here.
Pt 2 of my Croquet and Ink series was selected for the Society of Illustrators annual show! Its nice to see a personal project get some recognition. Thanks to the judges and the Society.
“I miss you. I think about you all the time. I hear your voice say my name when I dream and when I wake up, there are tears streaming down my face. I just miss you, it’s as simple as that. I want to tell you everything.”
Ra Ra Rasputin – The West Cork Ukulele Orchestra (Boney M cover)
Irish musicianship, Russian history, and a cover of a ridiculous disco song that I already adore… Sometimes the internet treats me to something so pure, I’m left utterly speechless.
This is entirely and completely delightful.
I am literally grinning right now. This is AMAZING.
“The Scarlet Flower is based on the story of the same name by Sergei Aksakov, which is an adaptation of the traditional story ‘Beauty and the Beast.’
Before going on an overseas journey, a merchant father asks his three daughters what they would like him to bring back for them. The youngest (Nastenka) asks her father to bring her a beautiful scarlet flower like one which she saw in her dreams. During his travels, a storm strikes and the father is washed overboard. He wakes up on a strange island, upon which he finds a flower just like the one Nastenka described. The instant that he plucks it, however, a great storm comes upon him and the owner of the island - a hideous monster - makes his presence known. He tells the father that he will let him keep the flower, but in return he must send one of his daughters to live with him. The father refuses, and the monster gives him a ring, telling him that whoever puts it on will be teleported back to the island, and that if his daughter doesn’t come then he himself must come and be killed. Nastenka overhears a conversation where her father reveals this to his friend and secretly puts on the ring herself.
Nastenka’s singing was performed by the famous chamber singer Victoria Ivanova.”
